it all started with diary comics…

I’m a lifelong reader of comics and graphic novels, but it wasn’t until reading autobiographical work in my early 20s that I thought to explore this medium in earnest. I drew diary comic strips every day for almost 5 years, & collected them in a zine series called Monk. I’ve moved on from the daily comics about my life but this labor of love taught me the strange magic of sequential art.

zinester scenester

Once I discovered zine fests, I was hooked. I was pleasantly surprised to find a small but thriving comics community in the South. I’ve loved being a part of this scene & watching it grow, tabling at about 8-10 events a year.

My annual favorites include Fluke (Athens, GA), Stone Soup Zine Fest (Wilmington, NC), Zine Machine (Durham, NC), Charleston Zine Fest (Charleston, SC), SPX (Bethesda, MD), GSO Zine Fest (Greensboro, NC), & Asheville Zine Fest (Asheville, NC). Current upcoming show dates (if any) will be listed on my instagram.
